Warm White Paint Is Lying To You: 5 Swatches Tested In Real Light

Colour & Paint1 min read

Every warm white looks identical on the chip and different on your wall. We painted five of the bestsellers on the same north-facing wall and photographed them across a day.

The 8am test

Morning light is blue. Three of the five whites went grey; only the two with a yellow-red base held their warmth.

The 8pm test

Under warm bulbs the ranking flips – the greyer whites turn softly neutral and the warmest one goes almost peach.

How to choose without repainting

Buy sample pots of two, paint A4 cards, and move the cards around the room for 48 hours. The card that never annoys you wins.
